Week 18: Modular exterior stone on a new home construction

new home modular exterior stone

Welcome! If you’re new here let me start by introducing ourselves. We are Tony and Jessica Vanderveen, and we are building our own house, acting as our own general contractors. You can find out more about us and our houses and renovations here. This is week 18, when the modular exterior stone is installed.

Modular Exterior Stone

Over the last two weeks we’ve had our stone mason install all the modular exterior stone. We decided to go with Permacon Lafitt stone in the Newport Grey color.  At the very last minute we changed our minds about the color, and I’m so glad we did. We were going to go with a bit of a lighter grey, but I love this darker stone. It changes the whole look of the house.

We hired Dejong Masonry from Winchester to do all the stonework. He did an amazing job and we’re so happy with how it turned out.

We love that front section of the house with the full wall of stone, and I think it really complements the style of the house.

We are very excited to have this part of the house done. Next up for the exterior is the siding, and once that is done it will really start to look like a finished house!

EDIT: Here is the link for the house after the siding is installed
