Our house has three bedrooms, and two of them are used for the kids. This room is a little smaller than the other kids bedroom, so we have always used it as the baby room. There wasn’t too much to do other than paint and flooring, but it made such an improvement.
Here are the before pictures, everything was pink with wood trim.
First I did a coat of paint on the ceiling, and painted all the trim white. I painted the walls using Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter.
Tony finished the floors at the same time that he did the other bedroom and the hallway. Here is a picture of the original floor on the left and the sanded floor on the right. He stained the floors using Minwax stain in Jacobean, and sealed it with three coats of polyurethane.
Here are the pictures of our current arrangement of the room. After we had Riley I decided not to redecorate, so he has to live with some pink in his room. I’m sure he doesn’t care. I love how the floors turned out – they are a nice dark brown. We chose the colour to match the prefinished hardwood we installed in the living and dining rooms, so the whole house has matching floors.
I still have to refinish the dresser. I plan on using the Valspar chalk paint in the same pink that I used for the side table.
I spend a lot of time in this chair. It’s an Ikea Poang chair that I got off kijiji. I painted it white and made a cushion cover for it. The footstool I made from an apple crate, and made a padded cushion for the lid. The lid is removable so I can store extra blankets in it.
For the crawlspace entrance, I covered a piece of cardboard with fabric and ribbons and use it to display cards and photos. I bought wood CD holders from Michaels, painted them, and hung them on the wall. They are the perfect size to store diapers and wipes.
